Goals

2019 Goals

Every year I like to write up a hand full of goals I’d like to see accomplished for the coming year. I feel like it makes me somewhat accountable to myself, but I try not to beat myself up when I fall short of my goals.

Here’s what I managed in 2018 and what I didn’t.

2018 Revisited

I completed the second draft of Dragons of Kalda, which felt just as good as finishing the first draft. This also means that I discovered several huge plot points that don’t work, so the third draft is in the works.

I continued to build my author platform by meeting lots of amazing authors online. I read several books and posted my reviews here on my blog. A small publishing house approached me to reprint my reviews on their site. That felt pretty good. Maybe one day I’ll even get paid.

I had planned on entering five writing contests but only managed four. I’m counting that as a win.

Stuff I didn’t accomplish and have yet again tabled for 2019

  • Finish the copywriting course on Udemy (#4 of 2018).
  • Start the Write Story Books for Children course (#2 of 2017).

2019 Goals

I will continue to try to get these items finished and off the list, but they are not a priority.

This year has its own set of goals I am really excited about.

  1. Get the first season of my podcast, Demiworld, published. This is by far one of the most exciting items for this year. My good friend Kelly and I have started a podcast. Each season will cover a new topic. Our maiden season will cover ten true crimes, and each episode has its own theme. Follow the link above to learn more.
  2. Finish editing a pile of short stories for a collection I’m planning to publish for sale and giveaways. I’ve found an editor, and I have started to plug away at making edits.
  3. Complete the third draft of Dragons of Kalda, making major character changes and arcs.
  4. Keep working on the Udemy and Writing Storybooks courses.
  5. Start exercising again. This one has been a hard one for me throughout 2018. I’ve had so little time during the day with all the other work I’m trying to finish. I’m going to have to try and shoehorn it into my mornings. Wish me luck.

All right. Time to get to work. I have a lot to finish. Here’s wishing you all the best in achieving your goals for the coming year.
